Born and raised within the Brethren (of J.N. Darby affiliation) and educated at a dispensational seminary, I have my theological roots firmly placed in the environs of the literal-grammatical-historical hermeneutic.  Yet, what can I say?  I have spent the intervening years subjecting my long-held presuppositions to “higher criticism,” so to speak.  Spiritual/Theological heroes: Dietrich Bonhoeffer, Søren Kierkegaard, C.S. Lewis, missionary Jim Elliott, A.W. Tozer.  For the label-makers among us, I consider myself a committed evangelical, a rugged biblicist, and hyper-analytical to a disturbing degree…but when it comes down to it, just another Christian on life’s way.
